Stratos Lightwave (Chicago), a global producer of optical electronic and optoelectronic components and subsystems, announced recently that Bill Hollis has joined the company as product manager, Video Division. In his new position, Hollis will be supporting sales and marketing activities to OEM, system integrator, reseller, and end-user customers for broadcast video products. Additionally, he will also have a role in steering product solution design, as well as managing product quality and new business opportunities.

IPC (Bannockburn, IL), a global trade association which represent all facets of the electronic interconnection industry, including design, PCB manufacturing, and electronics assembly, has announced recently that Bernie Klos has joined IPC as its new chief financial officer (CFO) and vice president of administration. He will be responsible for IPC’s financial, information technology (IT), customer service, human resource, and meeting functions.

Empire Electronics (Troy, MI), a supplier of electrical distribution systems and components to the automotive industry, has announced recently that Christina Bupte has been appointed as its marketing manager. Bupte has served as a sales coordinator for the company since 2004. In this newly created position, Bupte will direct all marketing functions of the company, including advertising, website development, trade show involvement, public relations, and oversight of the company’s integrated marketing agency. She will continue to work with the Empire Electronics sales team on new business development and customer relationship management.

DSM Engineering Plastics Americas (Evansville, ID), a global supplier of various types of polyamides (PA6, PA66, and PA46), polyesters (PBT, PET, and TPE-E), polycarbonate and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (PE), and extrudable adhesive resins, announced recently that Koen Devits has been appointed as business unit director of DSM Engineering Plastics Americas. Devits has been with DSM since 2003 in the position of director of corporate e-business. He will relocate to the United States beginning in January, and assume his responsibilities as of January 12, 2006. In addition, Auke Rottier, who preceded Devits in the position, has been appointed as president and representative director of DSM Japan. He will assume this new position as of February 1, 2006.

Bishop & Associates (Chicago), a market research firm specializing in the connector industry, announced recently that Arthur Viser has been appointed the position of managing director for Europe. Visser will be responsible for connector research in Europe and communicating with and servicing the European connector community.

Tyco Electronics (Harrisburg, PA), a passive electronic components manufacturer, announced recently that it has named TTI Incorporated, a passive and connector specialist, the North American Distributor of the Year for 2005. The award was presented recently in Fort Worth, TX, where executives from both companies were meeting.

Adhesives Research (Glen Rock, PA), developer and manufacturer of high-performance, pressure-sensitive adhesives, tapes, specialty coatings, films, and laminates, announced recently the addition of Thomas S. Rimel, Jr. as its new commercial development manager. In this position, Rimel is responsible for identifying new market segments and applications that would benefit from Adhesives Research’s high-performance products and technologies, while assisting in the commercialization of new and existing technologies. He will help position the company’s overall range of PSA and other technologies into applications that will help expand and offer the maximum value to Adhesives Research and its customers. As a part of his responsibilities, he will formulate strategies to transfer commercialized products and technologies to the company’s existing or new divisions.

Flomerics (Marlborough, MA), a provider of simulation software tools and services primarily to the electronics industry, announced recently that Professor Marta Rencz has been elected to the Board of Management of the EU-funded Network of Excellence, PATENT-DfMM, as manager of the Modeling and Simulation work package. In this capacity, she will serve as liaison between the board and the 16 University and industrial partners participating in the simulation activities of the PATENT project.

Professor Rencz is the head of department of electron devices at the Technical University of Budapest and the CEO of MicReD Ltd., which was acquired by Flomerics Group in April 2005. She is Organizing Committee and Program Committee member of several international conferences and workshops, and has published her theoretical and practical results in more than 250 technical papers.

Photo Stencil (Colorado Springs, CO), a provider of premium stencils and additional high-end tooling for the surface-mount-technology assembly industry, announced recently that they have hired Mike Burgess as stencil product manager. Burgess will lead marketing and sales programs throughout North America. Burgess brings over 20 years experience in the industry to Photo Stencil.
