ERNI (Midlothian, VA), a global manufacturer and worldwide supplier of a broad line of interconnects for the telecommunications, data communications, computer, industrial, and medical markets, announced recently the appointment of a country manager for South Korea to further develop business and build on ERNI’s market in connector supplies for the fast-growing VDSL market in Korea. Abe Ha, an industry veteran, will work with ERNI’s customers and partners to implement marketing and sales plans for the company in South Korea. He reports to Dr. Chris Bruhwiler, president and CEO of ERNI Asia.

Stackpole Electronics (Raleigh, NC), an electronic component manufacturer, has contracted Norris & Associates to promote and sell its products in the New England territory already effective. Founded in 1988, Norris & Associates is a privately held technical selling organization, whose line includes active, passive, electro-mechanical, and system-level components.

Newark InOne, a subsidiary of global Premier Farnell plc (Chicago), and a small-quantity distributor of electronic components, test equipment, and RoHS-compliant solutions in North America, announced recently the addition of electronics distribution veteran Jim Herman to fill the newly created role of vice president, design and engineering. Herman joins Newark InOne with more than 20 years of sales, marketing, and management experience in the electronic components distribution industry.

Adhesives Research (Glen Rock, PA), a manufacturer of custom solutions in adhesive polymerization, mixing, adhesive and film coating, and release liner design, announced recently the launch of a new division of the company called ARcare. This division is one of four new fully integrated operating divisions. ARcare will focus on the development and manufacture of highly customized, often one-of-a-kind tapes, adhesive-coated products, films, and laminates for customers in the pharmaceutical, medical, electronics, and specialty industrial markets. Geoff Bennett will lead this new division as vice president and general manager.

Seiko Instruments (Torrance, CA), a manufacturer of thermal printing solutions, has announced recently that it has signed a distribution agreement with Sager Electronics (Weymouth, MA), an employee-owned distributor of electronic components. Seiko Instruments’ Micro Printer Division has manufactured printer mechanisms and interface boards for OEMs and VARs for more than 20 years, and is recognized as one of the world’s leading producers of direct thermal printer mechanisms.

Gene H. Weiner & Associates (Danbury, CT), a 20+ year old consultancy serving globally oriented, high-technology electronic packaging and production industries, and their chemical, equipment, and material suppliers, announced recently the appointment of Dr. Alan Poskanzer of Poskanzer & Associates as a senior associate of the consultancy. Dr. Al Poskanzer is an expert in technology transfer and intellectual property protection and licensing. With a Ph.D. in physical chemistry, Poskanzer has 17 of years successful industrial R&D and entrepreneurial business experience in positions such as research manager at the Dynachem Division of Morton-Thiokol; and chief operating officer of a small startup company producing and selling products he developed.

Harting GmbH (Berlin, Germany), a developer and producer of electrical connectors for industrial electronics, announced recently the re-election of Dietmar Harting as president for an additional two years, at the presidential board meeting of the DIN German Institute for Standardization. In addition, The Presidential Board elected Heinz Helmut Kempkes, Helmet Kempkes GmbH, managing partner, as first vice president, and Professor Dr. Manfred Hennecke, president of the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM), as second vice president. The 45 members of the Presidential Board represent the various groups interested in standardization in the different branches of the industry and the federal government. Harting also announced recently a former Harting employee, Hans Nagel, has been awarded the coveted Lord Kelvin Award. The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in Kapstadt, South Africa, grants the award annually. The award represents his standardization work in electrical engineering. In addition, Nagel was also awarded in the Golden CENELEC pin in Brussels at a meeting over the summer in recognition of Nagel’s standardization work in Europe. Nagel was active as chairman of the CENELEC committee for standardization of connectors.

Brady Corporation (Milwaukee), an international manufacturer and marketer of identification and materials solutions for electronics, telecommunications, manufacturing, and electrical markets, announced recently that Philip M. Gresh, Jr. was elected to the Brady Corporation Board of Directors at the company’s annual shareholders’ meeting. Gresh has been executive vice president-consumer packaging products and decorating businesses for Illinois Tool Works since 2000.

Bel Fuse (Jersey City, NJ), a designer, manufacturer, and seller of products used in the networking, telecommunications, high-speed data transmission, automotive, and consumer electronics industries, announced recently the appointment Mark Coggan as North American sales director, a newly appointed position. In addition to overseeing Bel’s sales representative and distributor network, the company’s strategic account and regional managers will report directly to him.
