ADC (Eden Prairie, MN), a supplier of network equipment, software solutions, and integration services for broadband, multiservice networks, announced recently the appointment of Tom Kampf as vice president of its Fiber-to-the-X (FTTX) organization. Kampf has served ADC for 15 years, most recently as director of fiber solutions for the company. In his new role, he will oversee the company’s FTTX initiatives, including management of the OmniReach product family. He will also focus on the integration of the FTTX team, which consists of design, development, and manufacturing in Shakopee, MN, and Marlboro, MA. Kampf will report to Pat O’Brien, president of ADC’s Global Connectivity Solutions Business Unit.

FKI Logistex (St. Louis, MO), a provider of automated material handling solutions, announced recently the appointment of Dick Braatz as vice president of manufacturing for the company’s North American business unit. Braatz reports to Steve Ackerman, president, FKI Logistex North America.


Dennis Raper

Knight Electronics (Dallas, TX), a manufacturer, importer, and distributor of electronic products, announced recently the retirement of Dennis Raper, a 30-year industry veteran. Raper has been with Knight since 1998 as its southeast regional sales manager. Retiring to Rocky Mount, NC, Raper plans to remain active in the industry as a part-time consultant to various electronics organizations.

WELLS-CTI (Phoenix, AZ), a supplier of burn-in sockets, announced recently an addition to its engineering staff in an effort to better handle the increasing demand for its thermal and test solutions. Dr. James Forster will be joining the senior engineering team as senior manager, Materials Technology. He brings 21 years of product development, project management, and business development experience to WELLS-CTI. In addition to Forster, WELLS-CTI has signed three more senior engineers, including Jeff Woodward (Senior Electrical Engineer), Jim Machnicki (Senior Manufacturing Engineer), and Kevin Hansen (Drafter). The company is also aggressively hiring additional technical support staff for their Phoenix location and recently added a new technical applications engineer in Asia.

The Eraser Company (Syracuse, NY), a manufacturer of wire-, cable-, and tube-processing equipment, announced recently the addition of Joseph LaPlant as sales and marketing manager. LaPlant has over 20 years of experience in sales and marketing.

IPC-Association Connecting Electronics Industries (Bannockburn, IL), a global trade association, announced recently the addition of Neal Bender as membership director. Bender will be responsible for developing, implementing, and directing IPC’s membership recruitment and retention programs. With nearly 20 years experience in sales, marketing, and membership operations, Bender most recently served as director of Membership Operations at CompTIA, a $40 million international IT trade association located in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.

Geotest-Marvin Test Systems (Irvine, CA), a global supplier of electronic test equipment for aerospace, semiconductors, telecom, medical, industrial, and military applications, announced the addition of Bob Szpila to its sales team as western regional sales manager. Szpila will manage Geotest’s sales force in the western and Rocky Mountain states from the Irvine office.

Intertek ETL Entela (Grand Rapids, MI), an international testing, inspection, and certification organization, announced recently the opening of a new sales office in Louisville, KY. The expansion is in response to the growing automotive market in the Southeastern U.S., and will service clients throughout the Southeast.

JAE Electronics (Irvine, CA), a designer and manufacturer of electronic connectors and aerospace products, has announced recently the appointment of Shin Takahashi as president. He replaces Yasuo Takagi, who is returning to JAE corporate headquarters in Japan. Takahashi was previously executive manager at JAE corporate headquarters. A graduate of Sophia University, Takahashi previously worked for Japan-based NEC Corporation in the U.S. for over ten years.


Paul Lareau

Optimal Electronics (Austin, TX), a provider of manufacturing execution software announced the appointment of Paul Lareau as president, effective September 1, 2005. In this role, Lareau will be responsible for all aspects of business development, including sales, product marketing, and managing all sales channels. Lareau will report directly to the CEO of the company.

Digitaltest (Stutensee-Blankenloch, Germany), a manufacturer and tester of PCB assemblies, announced the appointment of a local South American distribution partner, MACON SRL (Buenos Aires), a representative and distributor of machinery, tools, and supplies to the electronics industry in Argentina, as well as neighboring countries. MACON SRL will provide sales and service for Digitaltest’s range of In-Circuit, Flying Prober, and Functional test equipment.
