Suyin issues ultra-low profile 1.4mm microSD card connector

Suyin now offers a microSD card connector with an ultra-low-profile height of 1.4 mm for accepting tiny storage media. Mobile phones, digital cameras, and other peripheral devices are becoming increasingly compact and thin; in keeping with this trend toward miniaturization, Suyin notes that memory cards being used with these devices are also shrinking in size. The company says that its shielded SMT card connectors guarantee up to 10,000 mating cycles and feature an ejection stroke of 5.0 mm for the microSD cards, along with a user-friendly push-push mechanism.

With that mechanism, the card is inserted by applying a slight amount of manual pressure and then removed by pressing it again. In addition, the connectors are equipped with a switching contact that detects whether or not a memory card is currently inserted. The card connectors are configured for a maximum of 10 volts DC and 0.5 amps per pin. Further specifications include a maximum initial contact resistance of 100 mΩ at the plug contacts, an insulation resistance of 1,000 MΩ, and a dielectric strength of up to 500 volts DC for one minute.

Depending on the order volume and delivery time requirements, diverse customer-specific adaptations can be made. Suyin can supply customers with a quote for production volumes beginning at 80,000 pieces per year; additionally, the company says it can support the product ramp-up phase by supplying smaller amounts.
