These splash-proof nanominiature connectors offer design features that provide environmental isolation protection against the detrimental effects of high-humidity, moisture-laden, dusty, or dirty environments. The N-Series connectors are precision-machined to accommodate added environmental protection with minimal compromise to standard nanominiature size and weight advantages. Sturdy #2-56 hardware, coupled with O-ring gasketing, combine to provide a tight, impenetrable seal. The connectors, available in SMT, PTH, and I/O configurations, are also customizable for alternate shell configurations.

These optical cable assemblies were designed for military, avionics, flight control, mobile-tactical field-command platforms, and EMI-sensitive and security applications. These cost-effective, military-style connector solutions are available with fiberoptic MIL-T-19504-approved termini, coupled with commercial off-the-shelf cabling and fiberoptic connectors. The optical military cable assemblies use ruggedized connectors designed for harsh environments. They can be terminated to both single-fiber and ribbon cable, and are available in 2- to 29-pin configurations to meet MIL-STD-1560 requirements. Various finish types are also offered with plug, jam-nut, and wall-mount receptacle options.

The new chip-on-flex (COF) filter technology in these new connectors eliminates stress from thermal shock and vibration while providing protection to sensitive electronics. In the MIL-DTL-38999 COF receptacles, the circular connectors have passed MIL-STD and MIL-DTL Series III testing for thermal shock, random vibration, humidity, and high altitude. The filter connectors are ideal for high-reliability military, aerospace, and industrial applications, including avionics, radio transmitters, fire-control systems, jamming devices, satellite communications, and data transmitters. The COF filter connectors provide ease of installation, standard terminations, and intermateability.

The TFOCA-4 (four-channel tactical fiberoptic cable assembly) connector offers high performance and durability in extreme conditions. Engineered primarily for military tactical deployments, the TFOCA-4 connector series features an internal subassembly design that offers advantages over the contemporary “clamshell” design in TFOCA interconnects. Advantages include fewer assembly steps, reduced assembly complexity, reduced number of subcomponents, and quick access to termini.

Four DS3 digital distribution module (DDM) products-the DDPM-2GT, DDPM-2, DDM-2GT, and DDM-2-have recently received UL approval. These modules are designed for mounting in JSDDF2 panels. DDPM-2GT modules feature integral gas-tube protection and separate copper bus bars to ensure grounding. Access modules/panels are available in various configurations, including rack panels, wall-mount brackets, and a coaxial or fiber-loaded wireline distribution box for network point-of-termination.

These connectors incorporate a new epoxy potting method, allowing for them to pass rigid helium leakage rate tests of 1 x 10-6 through 1 x 10-9 at a lower cost than traditional fired-glass or ceramic hermetic connectors. The process is adaptable to a number of different connector styles, as well as wire bundles. Suitable applications include military, aerospace, and industrial, where traditional glass hermetic connectors are used that meet helium leak rates between 1 x 10-6 to 1 x 10-9. Typical savings of up to 60% can be attained using these potted hermetic connectors over the traditional fired-glass hermetic connectors.
