RIBBON CABLE ASSEMBLIES

The MPO optical round ribbon cable assemblies offer reduced attenuation. Compared to difficult-to-route, traditional flat ribbon cables, these are ideal for parallel optic transceiver interconnection applications, patch panels, optical switches and routers, and data communication centers. Stacked, 12-fiber ribbons in traditional flat-jacketed ribbon cables are prone to piston in relation to each other, causing attenuation. In contrast, the MPO cable assemblies feature multiple ribbons stacked inside a round jacket to provide a stable, low-profile solution for complex, dense optical network applications.

BULKHEAD CONVERTERS

This new bulkhead media converter (BMC) family is designed for harsh-environment applications. Housed completely within an industry-standard bulkhead connector, these media converters accept a standard optical signal, such as Fast Ethernet, and convert it to a signal, such as IEEE802.3u (100BT). These devices handle both optical-to-electrical and full physical layer (PHY) conversions. BMC units simplify the incorporation of an optical interface into systems and equipment for military, aerospace, outdoor digital video, petrochemical, and marine applications, or any other harsh-environment application that benefits from a fiberoptic interface.
