ELASTOMERIC CONNECTORS

Elastomeric connectors consist of fine gold or alloy wires with standard conductor densities reaching 250 per in. These conductors are incorporated with silicone rubber in various configurations according to the requirements of each application. Custom contact patterns and stock from a variety of silicone formulations are available to deliver a custom connector specifically tailored to unique applications. The connectors provide many advantages as devices continue to require smaller and lighter components, and can be found in cell phones, flight data recorders, radar systems, test equipment, medical devices, automobiles, and a variety of other challenging applications.

COMBINED MODULES

In accordance to IEC 61076-4-101, the har-bus HM combined module integrates different HM female connectors in one single piece. Any combination of HM types A, B, AB, and C is possible up to 6 U in length. The combined module is designed to be used with the CompactPCI standard. The connector consists of five signal contact rows and provides a maximum of 535 contacts. It is available both shielded and unshielded, and is fitted with press-in contacts.

WATERPROOF CONNECTORS

The FirePower Systems connectors and plugs have been designed to eliminate GFI trippings and provide safe electrical power. Engineered to withstand rough conditions and severe weather, these connectors and plugs can be customized for specific applications, such as emergency power, temporary lighting, electrical machinery, and controls. When fully mated, the FirePower Systems are watertight and can block the intake of water when submerged in up to 6 ft. of water. MINI-DIN CONNECTORS

The 5145P3 series PCB-mount mini-DIN connectors are now available with a full metal shield and EMI gaskets on the mounting face for EMI suppression. Available in three- to eight-pin configurations, the gasket option for the mini-din connectors is the same one used on the patented RJ-45 connector line. The connectors incorporate high-temperature material in the housing, and come in a RoHS-compliant configuration. The mini-DIN connectors provide easy-to-identify pin configurations for applications that require multiple mini-DIN connectors on a single PC board or device.

PLASTIC CONNECTORS

A new version of plastic connectors has been developed by adding metal housing. They feature more than 1,000 mating cycles with a robust housing version. Receptacles, for front-, rear-, and front-or-rear panel assemblies are available and come in seven color-coding forms. The plastic connector in metal housing is a cost-effective alternative to metal push-pull connectors.

SOCKETS

This IDB 1394 socket complies with the new PCB footprint and has a metal shell for providing EMI. The socket is intended to mate with a plastic, optical-plug cable assembly. This connector system is able to operate at S200 (250 Mbit/s) speeds up to 50 m. This system, in conjunction with the custom convenient port (CCP) in copper, can support a full implementation of an automotive topology.

TWO-PAIR CONNECTORS

The GbX two-pair connector is designed for high performance within a small footprint. The connector features 27.5 real differential pairs per linear in. to fit compactly into a 15-mm slot pitch. The connector provides enhanced signal integrity with 100-Ω matched differential impedance and crosstalk under 5% at a 50-ps rise time (20 to 80%). A modular design allows for easy configuration in conjunction with low-speed signals, guidance, and power modules. The GbX is suited for designs with tight slot-pitch restraints, such as those in the blade server market.

AUTOMATION CONNECTORS

These M12 automation connectors have now been expanded to include a four-pin version with D-coding. These connectors can be used to implement a flexible I/O or field-bus connection on the circuit board. M12 connectors with D-coding meet IEC 61067-2-101, Amendment 1. Traditionally used to connect sensors and actuators in automation systems, the modular design concept makes it possible to produce connectors in different designs and versions. The black insulator is made of high-temperature-resistant plastic, and is suitable for soldering with typical SMT procedures.

Two new Unidapt universal adapter kits have been designed for technicians who work with WiFi and broadband systems. Both the RFA-4018-WIFI and the RFA-4028-WIFI kits contain an assortment of 30 universal adapters, including male and female MMCX, N, Reverse Polarity TNC, Reverse Polarity SMA, N, TNC, BNC, and SMA connector interfaces. By joining two adapters using a universal center, coaxial adapters can be made with any combination of these interfaces. CARD CONNECTORS

This low-profile, memory-card connector, measuring 2.2-mm high, accepts miniSD cards and are ideal for portable equipment, including mobile phones, mobile terminals, and PC peripherals. Safety features include a card inserted in reverse-prevention function, a card fly-out brake function, and a locking function for card drop-off prevention. CARD-EDGE CONNECTORS

BUS-BAR CONTACTS

The 120- and 350-A bus-bar contacts are part of the latest addition to its SB and Powerpole families of connectors. These contacts are used with 120, SB120, and SB350 connector families. CABLE CONNECTORS

NC**XX series XLR cable connectors are easy to assemble, simple to use, and are available in three- to seven-pole configurations. The compact-styled, die-cast shell has internal threads that mate with the external threads on the boot to eliminate damage sometimes found on exposed threads. The connectors have a chuck-type strain relief, and provide color-coding on the boot. Additional features include female cage-type contacts that increase conductivity and reduce wear of the male contacts, and a new ground contact that provides better integrity between the chassis and the connectors.
