These ultra-slim-profile D-subminiature connectors come in standard and high-density versions. They are compatible with DIN 41652, IEC 48B, and HE 5 standards, and are available in SMT and through-hole versions. The body thickness of the connectors starts at 4.00 mm (compared to 12.40 for the standard profile ). They are available for regular wave solder and/or pin-in-paste process. The connectors allow greater freedom for PCB design by offering more space on the PCB, without reducing reliability or performance of the application. E-TEC INTERCONNECT, MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA

The Quad/Twinax D-subminiature connectors are designed to ground the outer shield of a twinax or quadrax contact directly to the shell of the connector. A multi-finger ground spring fixed around the shell provides a multi-point contact engagement for superior EMI shielding. The result is an extremely low contact resistance when measured from the contact outer body to the connector flange. These connectors provide low RF noise and high durability of up to 1,000 mating cycles. The connectors are offered with 100-Ω quadrax and/or 150-Ω Fibre Channel twinax contacts. SABRITEC, IRVINE, CA

INTERFACE MODULE

This DIN-rail-mountable, pluggable D-subminiature connector interface module provides a cost-effective means of interfacing between I/Os and controllers used in industrial-control and automation applications. The transition from a D-subminiature to individual wires is simplified with this new, readily available interface module. An exclusive feature of the IMDS module is the availability of pluggable terminal blocks and either male (plug) or female (receptacle) D-subminiature connectors. These pluggable modules facilitate rapid system testing, shorter maintenance downtime, and they simplify construction when shipping of sub-assemblies is required. HIGH-DENSITY CONNECTORS

These D-subminiature high-density connectors provide a higher density capability within the same standard D-subminiature shell pattern; 15-, 26-, 44-, 62-, and 78-pole designs are available in 9-, 15-, 25-, 37-, and 50-pole size shells, respectively. The main benefit is the reduction of the space necessary on the front panel when a large number of connections are required. This new range includes PCB straight and right-angled versions with grounding clips. For cable applications, a crimp contact for 24 to 26 AWG cable and insulator bodies (15 to 78 poles) are available. HARTING, ELGIN, IL

VERTICAL SMT CONNECTORS

Designed for production efficiency and reliability, this recently expanded line of vertical SMT D-subminiatures complement the existing right-angle male and female SMT, press-fit, and through-hole-reflow D-subminiatures. The new connectors help reduce PCB assembly costs by enabling them to simultaneously process vertical D-subminiatures in the same SMT production line used for other SMT components. This eliminates or reduces additional processing steps. The new connectors are available with overall heights of 6.3 or 9.0 mm, and come with 9, 15, 25, or 37 positions. ERNI, MIDLOTHIAN, VA

The SM1720D, part of the Legend Series SmartMotors, has been redesigned and cost-reduced to use the same industry-standard connectors that are available with other SmartMotors, including the double D-subminiature connector with a 15-pin D-subminiature I/O, and a seven-pin combo D-subminiature power and I/O. The new motor provides more robust construction, better resistance to harsh environments, and better compatibility with existing systems. The SM1720D SmartMotor offers a compact size, fully integrated motion-control capability, and the flexibility to meet the most challenging motion-control requirements. ANIMATICS, SANTA CLARA, CA
