New HELIAX positive-stop connectors attach to coaxial cable in less than one full rotation. No torque wrenches are needed, and a clear visual and mechanical verification of fit is provided to ensure proper installation. Positive-stop connectors are fully waterproof to IEC 529, IP66, and IP68 standards; mated and unmated. Positive-stop connectors are available in sizes from 7/8” to 1-5/8” for Andrew AVA, LDF, and VXL cables. They attach by using available HELIAX cable preparation tools or standard tools. No special tooling is required. ANDREW CORP., ORLANDO PARK, IL www.andrew.com

PULL TESTER

The MidTel MPT-100 crimp-pull-test instrument is a portable tool for making ratchet-action destructive pull-type force measurements of crimp-on coaxial connectors to terminated cable samples, providing up to 200 lbs of force. The tester is ideal for use at the installation site, on the manufacturing floor, or in the test lab. The system consists of a lightweight digital meter, ratchet-action tensile stress tester, and power supply, packaged in a rugged protective case. The tester operates on AC or on the built-in rechargeable battery power. The MPT-100 confirms installed connector compliance with TL 9000 and industry pull-force standards. The EZ-240-SM and EZ-240-SM-RA connectors for LMR-240 low-loss coaxial cable come with straight and right-angle SMA plugs that attach to the cable without soldering, making them ideal for field installation. The center contact attaches to the center conductor of the cable via beryllium-copper spring fingers, and the outer contact is made by a crimp onto the outer braid of the cable. Each connector is individually packaged with installation instructions and dual-wall, adhesive-lined shrink tubing for strain relief and weather protection. The MDCX multi-pin connector has a low VSWR of 1.25:1 to 20 GHz (max mated pair). Coaxial contacts have a maximum overall diameter of 0.125” fitted into low-profile metallized housing. Insert arrangements are available in 4-, 6-, 8-, and 10-way with mixed signal and power contacts. Signal contacts are available in standard MIL-C-39029 or Hypertac’s hyperboloid signal contacts. Hypertac contacts feature a hyperboloid-shaped basket of individual spring wires that provide up to 100,000 mating cycles, immunity to shock and vibration, and extremely low insertion/extraction forces. These connectors are ideal for test, burn-in, and high-power applications. SABRITEC, IRVINE, CA www.sabritec.com

MINI COAXIAL CONNECTOR

This ultra-small, SMT-ready TS-7 series RF coaxial connector with a switch features a range of DC to 6 GHz for internal wiring found in mobile phones, wireless LAN, and Bluetooth modules. Measuring 1.5-mm high, with a footprint of only 2.9 x 2.9 mm and weighing 0.025 g, the lead-free receptacle is the smallest of its kind. The TS-7 series connector features VSWR of 1.3 maximum (DC to 3 GHz), 1.5 maximum (3 to 6 GHz), and an operating temperature range of -25°C to 85°C. SMK ELECTRONICS, SAN DIEGO, CA www.smkusa.com

SURGE PROTECTOR

The COAXTRAB CN-LAMBDA/4 surge and lightning protector uses a wave-filter design to eliminate surge voltages from radio antenna lines. The unit is designed to operate on 2 GHz at ±15%, making it ideal for protecting mobile phone and other cellular base stations from lightning-induced surges entering through the coaxial lines. The wave-filter principle provides lower voltage protection level (<20 V) and higher surge discharge currents (20 kA, 8/20 µs) than traditional gas-tube technologies. Problems of gas-tube extinguishing are also eliminated. All signals with frequency other than the operating frequency (2 GHz at ±15%) are passed to ground. MINI-SMB CONNECTORS

The 75-Ω mini-SMB connectors are intermateable with the commonly used 50-Ω SMB series. Included in the lineup are straight, right-angle, and bulkhead cable plugs and jacks; PWB plugs and jacks; and a variety of bulkhead and flange-mount connectors with solder cups. The most common use for this series is with miniature 75-Ω cables, which are often fitted with 50-Ω SMB connectors because of the lack of appropriate 75-Ω connectors, causing unavoidable mismatches. This problem is eliminated with the use of matched-impedance SMBs. COAXIAL COMPONENTS, BOHEMIA, NY www.coaxicom.com

SMA CONNECTORS

This recently expanded SMA coaxial connector line includes seven field-replaceable SMAs. These 50-Ω SMA connectors are mountable onto a glass bead, and are designed in accordance with MIL-348 interface. All of the field-replaceable connectors perform to 26.5 GHz. The connectors are available in gold-plated brass and 303 stainless steel. The SMA coaxial connectors are available in two- and four-hole configurations. SANTRON, IPSWICH, MA www.santron.com

CONTACTS

Coaxial and triaxial contacts for MIL-C-38999 circular and ARINC 404/600 series multipin connectors are crimp/removable contacts that feature a scoop-proof design to prevent damage to the mating interface from contact misalignment. Available for a wide range of coaxial and twinax cable, these contacts are fully crimpable using M22520 series crimping tools. Type N and TNC between-series test adapters for these contacts are also available, with new versions being added on a continuing basis. All components are manufactured in the USA.
