A new bulkhead-mounted cable jack has been added to the UPL250 series. Currently, the miniaturized BNC plugs are primarily mated to PCB-mounted jacks in OEM applications for the telephone central office DS3 line, enabling miniaturization by network element box builders, including Lucent, Cisco, and Nortel. Growing acceptance of this small BNC series has created demand for a bulkhead-mounted version. The 250 M-BNC series enables a 40% increase in connector density, and is ideal for OEM equipment applications that involve high data rates, high bandwidths, and/or high frequencies with low return loss. This line of high-current, low-cost pluggable PCB terminal blocks are ideal for the alarm, security, lighting, and HVAC industries. These terminal blocks have been tooled in high volume, making them cost-effective. Additionally, the design provides for a wide wire range and current capacity as high as 18 A. The connector plug and header feature molded-in polarization, which allows for mating and un-mating in the proper position and eliminates the possibility of turning the plug in the opposite direction. Designed for locking dust- and moisture-resistant large amperage connectors, suitable applications include equipment for industry, factory, and computer-server locations. IP44- to IP67-rated for dust and splashing water, the devices are also CSA-, UL-, and/or VDE-approved for North American and international use. INTERPOWER, OSKALOOSA, IA www.interpower.com

CABLE RECEPTACLE

The HyperGrip series cable receptacle adds to the IP67-sealed, RFI- and EMI-shielded, circular plastic connectors. User-configurable, it features color-coding and keying to make system recognition simple and incorrect mating impossible, which is especially important for medical-instrumentation applications. The cable receptacle is particularly useful, as it allows the HyperGrip connector to be “daisy-chained” via a remote cable-mount receptacle, rather than directly onto the panel. In the medical field, this means that sensors can be kept close to the patient, while the instrument is kept clear of the sterile field. HYPERTRONICS, HUDSON, MA www.hypertronics.com

BACKPLANE

The VXS switched serial backplane, compliant to the new VITA 41.0 specification, is a five-slot VXS solution. The five-slot, switchless VXS backplane allows the direct connection of up to three node cards, without the requirement for a switch card. This arrangement can be used to develop and test communication between end-point cards, support small system needs, and allow the demonstration of VXS node cards prior to the availability of switch silicon. The VXS backplanes are also compliant to the VITA 38 specification for system management. BUSTRONIC, FREMONT, CA www.bustronic.com

The SMT bottom-entry through-board socket is designed to handle high current ratings, up to 7 A, depending on the application. The SMT socket provides a small-footprint, low-profile solution to surface-mount application needs. The SMT socket has the flexibility to accommodate either a power or signal connection, and with its capacity to handle a large number of mating cycles, is ideal for high-density applications and demanding environments. The SMT socket is available in tape-and-reel in a standard tape pocket format, which allows the use of a standard pick-and-place tape feeder. ZIERICK, MOUNT KISCO, NY www.zierick.com

BULLET TERMINALS

This new series of 156 bullet terminals and receptacles is useful for manufacturers of automotive, RV, truck, and trailer connectors that use automated attachment equipment. 156 bullet terminals are 0.156”-diameter pin terminals, supplied in strip form on reels with the ears up for easy wire attachment using automated wire-processing equipment. An open-barrel, F-crimp design encapsulates the wire without crushing it, assuring a high-integrity connection. Available in high-brass and tinned-high-brass, 156 bullet terminals and receptacles are offered in two sizes for wires from 14 to 20 AWG. ETCO, WARWICK, RI www.etco.com

TERMINAL BLOCKS

The new TopJobs series of DIN rail-mounted terminal blocks uses the revolutionary Cage Clamps spring-pressure connection technology. This innovative connection technology allows solid wire, tin-bonded wire, or ferruled stranded wire to be connected by inserting the wire into the clamping mechanism (no tools required), as well as connecting all wire types via a screwdriver actuation. The TopJobs series is capable of terminating 28 to 4 AWG, and is rated at 600 V and up to 87 A (UL/CUL pending). WAGO, GERMANTOWN, WI www.wago.com

PLUG-AND-PLAY SYSTEM

These plug-and-play systems are pre-terminated fiberoptic solutions optimized for data centers and high-density telecommunications systems. With its simple and modular plug-in installation, plug-and-play systems can provide invaluable reductions in installation time and installation cost more than traditional installation methods. Featured in LANscape pretium solutions is a new, reusable clamshell pulling grip, offering unsurpassed individual connector protection and easier access to the factory-terminated connectors during installation. The grip includes a zippered sock that provides the ability to pull through conduit or in raised floors. CORNING CABLE SYSTEMS, HICKORY, NC www.corning.com

RELAY COUPLERS

Relay couplers for aeronautics and military applications (MIL-STD-1553) where device signals must be able to switch to another line or automatically disconnect one set of devices without affecting other remote terminals have been designed for test benches on the ground or separation modules, such as in missile applications. Relay couplers transmit the signal without distortion while maintaining network performance where groups of equipment need to be simultaneously disconnected. Relay-couplers can transmit to device signals conforming to MIL-STD-1553B. AXON CABLE, SHAUMBERG, IL www.axoncable.com

EMULATOR FOOT

The SF-MLF32A-A-02 small footprint surface-mount package emulator foot for 5-mm body, 0.5-mm pitch pins, such as the Cypress PSOC CY8C2XXXX family, uses patent-pending technology to achieve a reliable and small SMT MLF adapter. The SF-MLF32A-A-02 has pads on the bottom that precisely match the pin layout for the MLF/QFN package including the E-pad or heatsink pad in the center of the pattern. This allows connection to an MLF land pattern of target board to provide a set of interconnects available for probing or connecting to another assembly. BRAIDED SLEEVING

The Flexo F6 braided split sleeving is created from a split, semi-rigid construction, making it the ideal solution for situations where ease of installation is of primary importance. The tube is split laterally and can easily open up to accommodate a wide variety of bundling requirements-the semi-rigid braid configuration simply closes around the installation on its own. The 25% edge overlap (at nominal diameter) allows complete coverage, even around in-line plugs, chains, connectors, and splices. WAYTEK, CHANHASSEN, MN www.waytekwire.com
