A new device server that easily adapts RS-232 serial devices to industrial Ethernet networks is now available. The FL-Com server RS-232 interface offers easy integration of virtually any RS-232 device onto a 10/100BaseT Ethernet network, therefore allowing access to any device with a serial port. The advantages of networked serial devices include access to and control of these devices via the LAN, WAN, and Internet without expensive equipment and network upgrades. The FL-Com server RS-232 provides users with industrial features such as wide-range DC power supply, DIN-rail mounting, three-way isolation, surge protection, and redundant power supply capabilities. Two of the three newest Bug Katchers supporting the high-density 100-pin Samtec and high-speed 38-pin mictor connectors have been released. In response to designers' need for fine-pitch debug and the ability to monitor signals using a logic analyzer and an oscilloscope simultaneously, these new adapters were created to allow designers easy access and probing capability for individual and hard-to-reach signals in high-speed electronic designs. The 12U ATCA chassis line has been upgraded with several advanced and unique features. The new 12U ATCA is fully redundant from top to bottom. Three plug-removable fan trays offer a total of six high volumetric 130 CFM fans, three in the top/rear and three below the card cage. This includes coverage of the rear I/O card cage, and the top fans are angled slightly to direct exhaust out. The reap top of the chassis is also angled, allowing more airflow exhaust to escape when multiple chassis are stacked on top of each other in a rack. ELMA ELECTRONIC, FREMONT, CA www.elma.com

CUSTOM ELECTROFORMS

These new precision electroforms are precise, thin-walled, metal components that can be made as small as a grain of rice, with walls as thin as 0.0005", depending upon the custom requirements. The electroforms are produced by electrodepositing a thin layer of nickel on an aluminum mandrel of any shape, then chemically dissolving the mandrel to leave behind a hollow, thin-walled, metal form that becomes the electroform. Found in many industrial medical, defense, and aerospace applications, they can be used as molds, EMI shields, wave guides, goldshields, precision tubing, and nozzles. The series 15300 power distribution module—the Rear Terminal Mini-fuse and Relay (RTMR)—has a compact design that offers high component density and is versatile as either a primary or auxiliary power distribution unit. Built to survive demanding environments, the RTMR is sealed and weather tight, suited for applications experiencing moisture and vibration. Uniform component terminal spacing accepts standard 2.8-mm-wide terminal blades for all component connections. Connector points are arranged to accept standard components, including minifuses, mini circuit breakers, diodes, flashers, and/or mini or micro relays. COOPER BUSSMANN, WOOD DALE, IL www.busscc.com

UNIVERSAL CONTACT

This new surface-mount universal contact is available in a two-way version, delivering benefits of miniaturization, versatilty, and cost reduction to a range of telecommunications and industrial applications. The universal contact is designed to overcome traditional interconnect constraints where the contact is integral to the connecting device. It allows designers to standardize interfaces across different devices. It can be used for speaker, microphone, buzzer, and antenna functions in mobile phones, as well as other PCB-mounted devices. This new wiring/cabling system solution eliminates high-frequency electrical ground noise when used in conjunction with variable frequency drives or other products containing IGBT switching power supplies. Reducing noise helps increase productivity and system performance by reducing unplanned downtime and thereby increasing profits. In addition, recent testing confirms extended motor life. The cable and conduit are UL-listed components, using standard industry fittings and approved for use in Class I Division II applications. ZERO GROUND, WOODRIDGE, IL www.zero-ground.com

CUSTOM ENCLOSURES
