RF Industries to acquire Aviel

RF Industries announced recently that it has acquired, for cash, Aviel Electronics (Las Vegas, NV), a privately held manufacturer and marketer of microwave and radio frequency (RF) connectors. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Aviel Electronics, with nearly 47 years serving the microwave transmission industry, is an approved vendor to leading aerospace, electronics, OEMs, and government agencies in the United States and abroad. The acquisition will strengthen their growing line of custom RF coaxial connectors and enable Aviel to cross-market a broader line of specialty and OEM connector products to their rapidly growing list of military, aerospace, and government customers. The acquisition of Aviel Electronics by RF Industries will significantly expand Aviel's customer base and sales potential in all their market segments. www.rfindustries.com

Molex to expand in China

Molex, the world's second largest electronic connector maker, plans to build its fourth plant in the Chinese mainland somewhere between Chongqing and Chengdu City of Southwestern China, according to connector analysts Bishop & Associates. Molex expects the US$70-million plant will bring some US$200 million of business revenue each year, mostly from selling electronic connectors for communications, household appliances, and automobiles. Both cities feature some of the world's largest automobile and electronic makers, the potential consumer of Molex's products. Molex posted global revenue of US$2.1 billion for 2003. www.molex.com
