Differential-pair connectors — Triad Differential-pair Connectors are said to achieve bandwidths up to 5.0 Gbps and beyond. They feature a triad contact configuration of differential signal and ground lines. The products have a shielded, dual-row, cable-to-board interface for high-speed performance and 100 Ω controlled impedance. Applications include multiple high-speed, differential-pair signal equipment. Molex Inc., Lisle, Ill.

Card connector — The SCX Series SIM Card Connector features a low-profile design. The contacts are designed with the solder tails arranged in a single row on 1.27 mm pitch. Two tabs at the front of the socket reportedly provide reinforcement when fixing to a PCB or FPC. The connector is rated at 0.7 A AC/DC, 30 V AC/DC, and the temperature range is -25° to 85°C. J.S.T. RJ-45 connectors — These BelMag RJ-45 Integrated Connector Modules are designed to include single- and multiport components for 10/100/1000Base-TX employment. By integrating the magnetics within a rugged RJ-45 housing, the modules are said to provide unparalleled signal integrity, minimize component count and reduce board usage. They are suitable for Category 5 or 6 Fast Ethernet cables. Bel Fuse Inc., Jersey City, N.J.

Flexible Circuits — These Flexible Circuits are available with rugged, high-density Omnetics connectors. The circuit conductors are less than 0.003", and the connectors have 0.025" pitch; this reportedly allows designers to save space and simplify designs. Customers can specify a circuit and connector to be delivered as an assembly to reduce the parts count. The connectors meet MIL-PRF-85313, and the flexible circuits meet IPC specifications. Battery Connector — This Euro Battery Connector can be used for 80, 160 and 320 A applications. Its design is said to be intermatable with existing DIN 43589-1 auxiliary contact systems. An IP rating of 23 as per the 86/663/EEC specifications is reported, making it suitable for use in adverse conditions. The product can be used for 24, 36, 48, 72, 80 and 96 V applications, with polarization and voltage coding pin. It contains four auxiliary contact positions that reportedly provide greater versatility for designs that feature full compatibility with existing auxiliary contact systems. Edgeboard Connector — The MCX E-Snap LP Edgeboard Connector is designed for use with PCMICA cards and in wireless applications. Small protrusions inside the slots allow connectors to snap securely into previously solder-pasted holes as they are slid onto the PCB. The product occupies 2.7 mm of space above and 1.06 mm of space below the PCB, making it suitable for applications where mechanical strength, high durability and reliability, and low VSWR are required. Additional features include 50 Ω impedance and repeatable performance to 18 GHz. Bomar Interconnect Products Inc., Ledgewood, N.J.

Power Connectors — Series 120 A AMP Power Connectors are available as either a two-pole battery connector or a single-pole, stackable, general-purpose connector. Rated for 120 A at 600 V (AC or DC) when using 2 AWG wire, both styles use a genderless housing design that mates two identical connector halves so that only one housing part number is necessary. They are suitable for telecom equipment, material handling equipment, power supplies and rechargeable batteries. The housing is made of impact-resistant, UL 94V-0 polycarbonate, and the contacts are silver-plated copper for low resistance and improved conductivity. Tyco Electronics, Harrisburg, Pa.

Jack Adapter — The UBJ224-RIA Recessed Insulated Adapter is available with a new housing. This reportedly allows access to the adapter in a flush-mount package. This feature is said to permit a clean appearance to the equipment and to prevent the jack port from creating a dangerous protrusion capable of causing injury to users or to the jack itself. I/O Modules — Fieldline I/O Modules have an IP67 environmental rating and can be implemented on fieldbus protocols including DeviceNet, CANopen, Interbus and Profibus DP. Integrated diagnostics provide local indication of bus error states and I/O device status. Bus-specific parameters such as address and baud rate are set external to the module with a standard screwdriver. Sensor/actuator devices and network connection cabling are connected to the modules through industry-standard M12 connectors. Phoenix Contact Inc., Harrisburg, Pa.

Sealed Connectors — These High-grade Sealed Connectors are designed for power, digital and RF applications with connector and cabling systems ranging from 0.025 to 0.300" pitch contact-to-contact spacing. The products are available in circular and rectangular packages that include harness assembly and backshell hardware. The connectors provide leakage protection to shield equipment from harsh chemicals and environments. I/O connectors are designed with epoxy or glass-to-metal hermetic sealing. Terminal Blocks — Series ZSRK2.5 Spring-clamp Terminal Blocks feature an integral provision for internal jumping that allows voltage potential to be distributed throughout a multipole assembly. They are available as individual snap-together elements or multipole assemblies up to 12 poles. The blocks are 5 mm wide and feature top wire entry and a compact profile. These panel-mount mini-terminals are suitable for making wire terminations in confined spaces such as equipment and machinery housings, panels and small enclosures. Network Jack — The NJ200 Network Jack is an "in-the-wall," four-port managed Ethernet switch that reportedly quadruples LAN infrastructure port connections. The product converts a single-port LAN connection into four switched ports without installing additional cabling. It mounts inside a standard wall cutout, and the switch case and downlink port are secured behind the faceplate to protect against damage and disconnection. SNMP-compliant management, location mapping and NEMA-WD6 and ANSI-complaint building standards are featured. 3Com Corp., Santa Clara, Calif.

High-flex Cables — L-Flexx 690 Cables are designed for applications that require continuous flexing, oil resistance and improved performance in harsh environments. The diameter-reduced products reportedly can withstand a bending radius as small as five times the outside diameter. Rated to 600 V, 90°C, they feature extra-fine stranded copper conductors, specially formulated insulation and low-friction woven wrap. Available in unshielded and shielded versions with different AWG sizes and number of conductors, the PUR-jacketed cables are flame-retardant and resistant to abrasion, coolants, extremely cold temperatures (-50°C) and UV rays. SFP Products — These Small Form-factor Pluggable Products are designed for short-haul networking applications. An SFP-to-HSSDC-2 converter, active and passive patch cord assembly, copper loopback, SMT 20-position connector and EMI cage are offered. These products are said to provide high-speed gigabit connection capability over copper Fibre Channel. Coaxial Connectors — Quick-change RF Coaxial Connectors are designed for mating to wattmeters and other high-power test and monitoring equipment. Features include a 1.25" universal panel receptacle and adapter block with an interface that accepts 7/16, BNC, C, HN, LC, N, QDS, SC, SMA, TNC, UHF, SQS, and 0.875" and 1.625" to 50 EIA front ends. Constructed of nickel-plated brass with a PTFE insulator and silver-plated, beryllium copper contacts, the products can be changed in the field using four screws. Tru Corp., Peabody, Mass.

Feedthroughs/Connectors — Ceramic-to-metal Connectors and Feedthroughs are suitable for outer space satellites, inner-space mining and undersea interconnections. Ceramic-to-metal seals are said to be suitable for reliable electrical circuits that must pass through containment walls and are subjected to high temperatures and pressures with voltages up to 50 kVA. Ceramic insulators are an alternative to glass seals. They are said to provide long-term hermetic reliability, high-temperature operation and radiation resistance. Flexible Cable — SM Series Flexible Cable is suitable for applications such as military ECM and guidance systems, commercial antennas and communications. The product is available in two sizes: the SM402 for use with 0.141 semi-rigid connectors, and the SM405 for use with 0.086 semi-rigid connectors. At 1.0 GHz, the attenuation of the SM402 is 11.6 dB per 100'. Minimum inside bend radius for the SM405 is 0.15" for installation in tight spaces, and the operating temperature range is reported at -65° to 125°C. Semflex Inc., Mesa, Ariz.

PCB Connectors — The SL 3.81/ BL 3.81 is a 3.81 mm-pitch connector system offered in two-, three-, four-, five-, six-, eight-, 10-, 12- and 16-pole versions. The connector has a UL rating of 300 V, 8 A and accepts 30 to 16 AWG wire. Pin headers are available in 90° (horizontal) and 180° (vertical) orientations. Socket blocks, with clamping yoke connection, offer three different cable-entry angle possibilities: 90°, 180° and 270°. The pin headers and socket blocks are also available with or without integrated screw flanges. Weidmüller Inc., Richmond, Va.

Terminal Block — Type AST025 is a 5 mm, spring-clamp terminal block that reportedly provides an easy-to-terminate gastight connection. No special tools are said to be required, and the design offers constant contact resistance and auto adjustment of spring force at each wire size. The product is UL- and CSA-listed and designed to meet VDE requirements. Available in circuit sizes from two to 24 poles, it accepts a wire range of 28 to 14 AWG and is rated to 300 V at 13 A. DIN Power Contacts — DIN Power Contacts are designed for use in 2 mm hard metric, Type L, M and N connector modules. Reportedly, these high-power, pressfit contacts work with all industry-standard hard metric products and do not require soldering. Female contacts are machined from beryllium copper and have a nickel-plated lock ring that secures the contact in the connector housing. Male contacts are machined from brass and are available in three mating levels. Both have a maximum current-carrying capacity of 40 A. Raycon Technology Inc., Huntington Beach, Calif.

VFD Cable — Olflex VFD Slim is a reduced-diameter, shielded motor supply cable designed for variable ..frequency drives. It has a PVC jacket that is approved for UL and CSA standards for 600 V. Available in sizes ranging from 16 to 2 AWG, it is also approved for 1,000 V by UL AWM, and is c(UL)- and CAS AWM-approved. The materials used reportedly are designed to hold up to the nonlinear power distortions associated with VFD drives. The product has a semi-conductive insulation that smoothes out the stranded copper, and is said to disperse increases in voltage caused by wave reflections, harmonics and spikes. Fiber Optic Connectors — NEFO-600 Series Fiber Optic Connectors include both cable- and panel-mount plugs and jacks, as well as dust caps. The design allows for use of two to six contacts, either single- or multimode, allowing flexibility for future expansion. The cable-mount bodies incorporate a rugged strain relief, multi-keyed polarization and a positive-lock design. They are also available in fully terminated assemblies using tactical fiber.
