From Taiwan, DigiTimes-Systems is reporting that, for the sake of safety, Foxconn/Hon Hai Precision Industry has temporarily stopped polishing processes at all of its plants around China, after the May 23 explosion and consequent fire that killed 3 at a factory in Chengdu City, western China. The accident occurred in a workshop room for production of electronic devices; the noted Apple supplier said the blast was caused by an ignition of combustible aluminum dust that had accumulated in the course of workers polishing casings for newly minted iPad devices. In wake of the accident, China's Taiwan Affairs Office called on Foxconn and other Taiwanese companies to ensure greater plant safety for workers.
