The product has a compact design for use in applications with limited space. LEMO USA Inc., Rohnert Park, Calif. For Free Literature, Circle 226 or go to www.onlinecenter.to/cs

Modular Connectors

L Series Modular Connectors are designed for use in harsh environments. They reportedly allow customers to assemble a large number of contacts in one connector while maintaining low insertion and extraction forces. Contacts are said to provide superior performance under shock and vibration, high cycle life and low contact resistance. A variety of combinations are available in a single connector frame. The connectors are suitable for rack-and-panel, cable and programming applications. Hypertronics Corp., Hudson, Mass. For Free Literature, Circle 211 or go to www.onlinecenter.to/cs

I/O System

The I/O System 755 IP67 Modules feature fully molded housings that make them suitable for use in harsh environments where water and oil regularly come in contact with connections. Installation is said to be simplified because the I/O connectors, sensor and actuator connectors, as well as the housing dimensions and fixing holes are the same for all fieldbus systems. Sensors and actuators can be directly connected via M12 standard connectors. Ports are also available for the fieldbus and power connections. Various I/O configurations are available from 16-I/8-0 to 8-I/4-0. The system is available for DeviceNet, Profibus and Interbus-S. The FC-DRY HP Fiber Optic Connector Assembly System uses 300 series stainless steel for the connector and coupler body, while the coupler ferrules and alignment sleeves are precision-machined zirconia. The keyed index connection incorporated into the product is said to ensure reproducible termini alignment. Suitable for use in water, ice, humidity and corrosive environments, the system is designed to protect the fiber optic termination from wet environments and particulate. It has been tested to 1,000 psi with a typical light loss of 0.3 dB and a maximum light loss of 0.5 dB. Temperature range is -40° to 85°C. Available for single- or multimode fiber, the system can be supplied with straight UPC or angled APC ferrules. D-subminiature Connectors

These Hermetic D-Subminiature Connectors are said to be gastight and provide glass dielectric around each contact to maintain rated electrical characteristics through exposure to thermal and mechanical shock. The glass reportedly provides a heatproof shield in fabrication. Five basic shell sizes from nine to 50 contacts are offered in various termination styles. Mounting posts and through holes are also available. Detoronics Corp., South El Monte, Calif. For Free Literature, Circle 213 or go to www.onlinecenter.to/cs

Power Connectors

The HTS Series Power Connectors are suitable for industrial applications such as injection-molding equipment and industrial machinery. They are comprised of a metal outer shell, a mated pair of contact inserts and contacts. Surface-mount, panel-mount and in-line shell styles are available. The outer shell is constructed of die-cast aluminum or zinc and can be equipped with several latching mechanisms. Depending on the version, the connectors are said to carry IP44, IP65 or IP68 protection against ingress of fluids or debris. Twelve shell sizes accommodate contact ranges from three to more than 200. Contact inserts are UL-, CSA- and SEV-approved and reportedly meet several automotive industry manufacturing specifications. The Heavycon Advance Rectangular Plug-in Connector features housing with screw-type locking. It is suitable for applications where the connection is typically not plugged, such as feedthrough holes in panels. Two mounted flanges replace the standard mounted housing with locking clips. The housings meet the requirements of IP67 protective enclosures. Three versions of the product are available: a grey standard housing for automotive and machine industries; housings for corrosion protection; and EMC housings for shielding protection. The contact inserts use a quick-release method of connection for 500 V, 16 A and are available with six, 10, 16 and 24 poles in a pin-and-socket version.
