Qualitek International, Inc. has expanded its Solder Check UP program to include analysis for the alloys Sn100C, SACX, K100LD and Sn100E, in addition to the wide variety of pot alloys analysis already available from the company. Periodic solder analysis and inspection is necessary to maintain solder pot integrity and avoid contamination that may cause a variety of quality and solderability issues, notes Qualitek. A solder analysis is recommended every 30 days.

The expanded program testing comprises a 1/2 lb sample sent by a customer to one of the company's worldwide locations. Qualitek then performs analysis and sends e-mail to customer with status of solder joint impurities as well as the level of tin, which will aid in identifying any solder joint or processing problems. The solder check-up program includes tests for for leaded pots as well as lead free. Customers have the option to purchase prepaid mailers at a discount or send solder samples through UPS or postal mail.
