Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corp. (NYSE: TM) reportedly announced that its Chinese subsidiary company Tianjin Faw will recall 33,809 Corolla Ex sedans, launched between October 2010 and January 2011, to fix an engine computer malfunction. According to Toyota, if the cars' computer is exposed to static electricity, functions of the onboard computer controlling the engine might fail, making it impossible to start the car and causing the engine to stall.
