Brady raised-panel labels receive 10-year durability rating

Dec 1, 2009

December 1, 2009Brady Worldwide’s Raised Panel Labels have been tested to withstand 10 years of outdoor weathering, the company recently announced.

According to Brady, the B-593 Raised Panel Label gives customers an economical option for outdoor identification. The labels can be used to identify a number of items, including electrical boxes, low-voltage control panels, instrument panels, and other outdoor applications. They are available in six colors.

The labels were tested using the Atlas Ci5000 Weather-Ometer, an artificial and accelerated weathering testing system, Brady says. The labels were exposed to controlled cycles of Xenon Arc light and water spray to simulate the natural conditions of sun, rain, and temperature changes. The testing occurs in a chamber set at a black panel temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit. According to Brady’s internal testing results, 800 hours in the Weather-Ometer is equivalent to approximately one year of outdoor exposure in the state of Wisconsin.

The labels were rated at five intervals over the course of a year, with observations based on the appearance of the labels’ color, gloss, and print fade/removal. As a result, the B-593 Raised Panel Labels were rated to be functional for the following outdoor durations.

  • White/R600 Black: 10 years
  • Yellow/R6000 Black: 5 years
  • Silver/R6000 Black: 5 years
  • Green/R6000 Black: 5 years
  • Red/R6000 Black: 5 years
  • Red/R4400 White: 3 years
  • Black/R4400 White: 3 years
  • Green/R4400 White: 3 years
