Japan Aviation Electronics (JAE) has developed the DX4 series of compact Micro USB connectors, compatible with Universal Serial Bus micro-USB cables and connectors specified by the USB Implementers Forum Inc. (USB-IF) Revision 1.01.
Applications for the new connector include mobile phones, smartphones, portable audio players, digital cameras, personal navigation devices, and other compact portable devices.
The DX4 series connectors have a stainless steel structure that provides enhanced torsion resistance, and a compact footprint with a 2.35 mm (0.09”) height and 5mm (0.20”) depth. The five-contact Type B connector is designed for the peripheral device connection side and is available in both through-hole and SMT.
Additional specifications include initial contact resistance of 30 milliohms (max.), initial insulation resistance of 1,000 Megohms (min.), dielectric withstanding voltage of DC 500 v.r.m.s. per minute, and durability of 10,000 mating cycles. Rated current is Vbus, GND DC 1.8 amps, and other 0.5 amps.
