D-subminiature Y adapters/splitters expand serial ports

Dec 1, 2011

L-com now carries a line of Y adapters/splitters for three common D-Subminiature connectors: DB9, DB15 and DB25. Each adapter comes male to two female connectors, wired 1 : 1 to evenly split signals.

According to the manufacturer, the new adapters are intended to solve serial splitting needs that had previously been met using custom-wired cables or adapters. The products come fully shielded and with 30 microinch gold plating on the contacts for repeated mating cycles. Their light gray molded casing is made of rigid PVC to increase ruggedness and longevity.

“Our custom product team frequently produces custom-wired cables and adapters to split serial connectivity,” comments Steve Smith, Product Manager. “Now we provide an off-the-shelf solution at significant time and cost savings when compared to a custom option.”

The Y adapters/splitters will be stocked in North America for same-day shipping on orders. Engineering drawings and 3D CAD models will be available for free on the  company's web site. For more information, visit: http://www.L-com.com/
