Molex enters audio accessories market

Aug 2, 2010

LISLE, Ill. -- Molex announced its entry into the audio accessories market with the Evaldi noise-isolating earphones. This first audio product offering by Molex will be introduced and marketed through a limited-exclusive distribution partnership with Digi-Key Corporation.

“Entering the audio market is a natural progression for Molex – blending advanced microminiature interconnect technology and global manufacturing excellence with high-end acoustics to create superior audio performance and ‘3-Dimensional’ sound quality,” said Joe Falcone, product manager, Molex. “We look forward to offering our new line of Evaldi audio products to an audience that is eager to experience higher fidelity and a wider, more stable listening experience.”

Using patented airstream-control technologies, Molex says the Evaldi earphones enable both sharper high tones and lower bass sounds to be presented without interference. With a canal-type design and features such as an inclined stem with an elliptical shape, the earphones conform more naturally to the ear canal.

The micro components and precision manufacturing features added to the inside and chassis of the earphones are designed to control the airstream to achieve higher quality sound. Packaged in a segmented, stylish pouch, the earphones come with both open and closed style ear pads that help isolate the sound and allow users to customize their listening experience.

The Evaldi earphones have a 1,200mm Y-shaped headset cord with a 3.5mm (1/8”) diameter plug. Designed for sophisticated sound quality, the earphones have a 13.5mm driver unit that can produce frequencies from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and a maximum power capacity of 50 mW. Impedance is rated at 16 ohms at 1 kHz.

Building on these advanced technologies, Molex plans to introduce additional audio-related products for personal and business use in the coming year.
