Custom assembly service incorporates switches, cables, connectors

Jul 20, 2010

The UK's electropages is reporting that a new custom assembly service has been announced by Knitter-switch (Germany) which pulls together that company's switch products with customer specified cabling, connectors and other electromechanical parts.

"There is a growing demand from customers to reduce their supplier count and look for complete electromechanical assemblies rather than single components from several sources," comments Knitter-switch CEO, Hanspeter Külb. "As well as improved quality control, there are significant cost benefits when dealing with a single supplier."

Knitter-switch says that virtually all of its parts can be supplied pre-wired or cabled with appropriate connectors or terminations. This may include all types of switches from key switches, pushbuttons, toggles and rotary encoded switches to encoders, LED indicators and membrane keypads.

Külb continues, “Many customers want more than just a switch and are increasingly asking us to provide them with a finished assembly by adding cable and connectors to their specification. What we have put in place with this new assembly service is the capability to offer design and product procurement as well as assembly and test to a variety of electrical and safety specifications in addition to RoHS compliance for the finished assembly.”
